The Manhattan Christian College men’s basketball team won its sixth consecutive road game by defeating Union College 95-69 earlier this week.
With the victory, head coach Shawn Condra earned his 400th career victory in his 20th season at MCC.
MCC got off to a blazing start in the first half, shooting 65.5 percent from the field and 75 percent from behind the arc.
Sage Ruis was a key contributor to the strong start, as he scored 24 points in the opening half — going 9 for 10 from the field, 3 for 3 from long range and and 3 for 3 from the free-throw line as the Crusaders raced to a 50-36 halftime lead.
MCC was able to stretch the lead quickly in the second half, opening the final 20 minutes with a 32-6 run to take a 82-42 lead and never looking back.
Ruis finished with 26 points, while Lonnie Penner added 18 points. Alex Hammack and Will Chisam scored 11 points apiece.
Condra is now 400-244 in his career.
Under Condra’s direction, MCC has won 12 regular season conference championships, six conference tournament titles, two regional championships and the Crusaders have appeared in 10 national tournaments.
The Crusaders will return home for the first time in more than a month this weekend as they host region rival Grace (Omaha, Neb.) University on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and then top -10 NCCAA-II foe Hillsdale College (Moore, Okla.) on Saturday at 2 p.m. at City Auditorium.
