The Manhattan Christian College women’s basketball team won two games this past weekend to capture the Midwest Christian Conference tournament title.
Second-ranked MCC rolled over Faith Baptist 78-15 in the first game. The Crusaders secured a comfortable lead in the early minutes and coasted to 28-7 halftime lead. In all, 12 Crusaders scored in the game.
MCC defeated 10th-ranked Central Christian of Missouri in the championship game, 76-63 in overtime.
The first half was tightly contested with the halftime score tied at 25. The Crusaders were able to extend the lead to nine in the second half.
Central used a furious rally in the last two minutes to tie the game and force overtime.
MCC dominated the overtime, holding Central scoreless the first four minutes. The Crusaders outscored Central 15-2 in overtime.
The Crusaders’ two post players recorded double-doubles. Lindsey Anderson scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds,while Libby Witte added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Brittany Shaklee and Sarah Wenger scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Ciara Allen had 16 points for Central.
MCC is now 24-4 on the season and will open play in the NCCAA Central Region Tournament on Saturday at home.
