The third-ranked MCC women (6-2) rolled over Grace University, 92-39, Friday in Omaha.
Manhattan scored the first 13 points of the game to force a Grace timeout. From there, MCC extended its lead to 18-2 before taking a 40-16 halftime lead. The Crusaders scored the first 13 points of the second half to extend the lead to 53-16. The game’s largest margin was 55 points late in the second half.
The Lady Crusaders shot 50 percent from the field on 32-of-64 shooting. Manhattan controlled the boards to outrebound Grace 54-31. MCC turned the ball over only nine times for the game compared to Grace’s 20 turnovers.
Forward Libby Witte finished with a double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Sophomore guards Rebecca Hawthorne and Mackenzie Matavosky each added 13 points. Senior point guard Sarah Wenger added eight points along with four steals. Faatimah Dreher and Ashley Roh each had nine points for Grace.
MCC plays Union College on Tuesday night in Manhattan.
