The third-ranked Manhattan Christian College women’s basketball team defeated No. 4 Hillsdale Baptist 87-75 on Monday night in Moore, Okla.
The Lady Crusaders jumped to an early 9-2 lead to open game in the first few minutes.
Hillsdale fought back and tied the score at 22.
Fouls plagued MCC in the first half with three starters sitting significant minutes.
Hillsdale surged to a six-point lead, only to have Manhattan’s bench battle back and give the Crusaders a 42-41 halftime advantage. Hillsdale shot 63 percent from field in the first half.
The teams traded leads in the second half with neither team getting up more than six points.
The Crusaders secured the lead with 6 minutes to go and never looked back.
MCC made key free throws in the last 2 minutes to hold off Hillsdale .
Guards Leah Barger and Sarah Wenger led Manhattan with 25 and 23 points, respectively.
The Crusaders made 7 of 15 shots from behind he arc. Brooke Grant had 20 points for Hillsdale.
MCC is now 12-3 on the season. Manhattan travels to Joplin, Mo., this Friday to play Ozark Christian.
