MCC volleyball splits

The Manhattan Christian College volleyball team defeated Baptist Bible (Springfield, Mo.) in three sets on Friday night and lost to Grace University in the NCCAA Pre-Region Tournament in Manhattan.

Against Baptist Bible, sophomore outside hitter Kylie Rupe had eight kills. Junior middle hitter Alyssa Strain added seven kills. The Crusaders totaled 16 service aces. Sophomore defensive specialist Tiffany Willbanks had a team-high five aces. Sophomore setter Paige Mortensen led MCC with 24 assists.

Rupe again came through against Grace with a team-high 12 kills. Freshman middle hitter Carrie Pilkington added seven kills.

The MCC defense was strong with Rupe totaling nine digs, while junior libero Lauren Hall and Willbanks also digging eight balls apiece. Mortensen finished with 27 assists.
