MCC swept by Arlington Baptist

The Manhattan Christian College baseball team opened its season with a pair of losses Friday and Saturday.

The Crusaders lost to Arlington Baptist College 3-2 on Friday in Arlington, Texas.

MCC held Arlington scoreless through the first two innings before Hector Moreno had a two-run single and Zachary Thompson got an RBI single in the third to make the score 3-0 in favor of Arlington Baptist.

MCC was held scoreless until the final inning of the game when Mike Foster hit a two-run double to bring the Crusaders within one run of the lead. They didn’t score again.

The Crusaders were outhit 9-6 in the loss, which was taken by pitcher Nick Noren.

MCC took another loss to Arlington Baptist on Saturday, falling 15-6 and getting outhit 13-5.

The Crusaders committed four errors in a game that saw Arlington score two in the first, three in the second and six in the third, before finishing with three runs scored in the fourth and one in the sixth.

MCC was held to one run in the third and one in the sixth before scoring four in the seventh inning.

Arlington got doubles from Devin Patton, Clint Hall, Hunter Ray and a triple from Zachary Thompson. Hall led the way with three RBIs, while Thompson and Ray had two. Hector Moreno and Hilario Vargas had two RBIs apiece.

Codi Morris and TJ Marler had doubles for MCC, while Mike Foster, David Colin, Andy Howland and Zane Asbell all had one RBI.
