MCC men win two

The Manhattan Christian College men’s basketball team went on the road over the weekend and picked up a pair of wins.

On Friday night, MCC traveled to Ankeny, Iowa, and defeated Faith Baptist Bible College, 86-56. The Crusaders led 49-14 at halftime while forcing Faith into 15 turnovers in the first half. In the second half MCC played all 15 players in different combinations as they held on for the win. Sage Ruis led MCC with 16 points, while Josh Camacho added 11 points and Lonnie Penner and Bryce Birtell chipped in with 10 apiece.

On Saturday, the MCC men went to Moberly, Missouri, and took on the Saints from Central Christian College of the Bible. For the second straight day MCC opened up an early lead, and stretched it out to 47-21 before CCCB closed on a 9-0 run to make the halftime score 47-30.

In the second half MCC was able to stretch the lead out and coast to a 101-58 victory. MCC shot 10 of 24 from the three-point line led by Ruis who finished with 19 points. Thirteen of the 15 MCC players cracked the scoring column.

MCC is now 3-5 overall and 1-0 in Midwest Christian College Conference play. MCC will be off this week before returning to action Nov. 27 at home when they take on Barclay College at 7 p.m.
