MCC men lose at home

The Manhattan Christian College men’s basketball team dropped a home contest to Central Christian 67-48 on Tuesday night.

Central entered the game ranked No. 22 in the NAIA Division II and was a perfect 9-0 on the year.

For the second straight game, MCC struggled from the floor in the first half, as it only shot 29 percent from the floor and was down 31-18 at halftime.

In the second half, the Crusaders showed a better effort and scored the first eight points of the second half to trim the deficit to 31-26.

Central responded with a run of its own to open the lead back to double figures, but MCC responded with another run and cut the lead to 41-35. But that would be as close as MCC would get.

For the game, MCC shot only 32 percent from the field.  Lonnie Penner was the lone Crusader to reach double figures with 11 points.

MCC is now 4-7 on the season and will be back in action on the road this weekend as it travels on Friday to Omaha to take on Grace University and Nebraska Christian College on Saturday.
