Mary Elizabeth Holley, 74, of Wamego, died Sunday at the Wamego Health Center. She was a long time resident of the community.

The family provided some of the following information.

Mary was born Feb. 26, 1939, in Blaine. She was the daughter of Celester and Lucille Harrington Saville. She attended local grade school and Wamego High School. She also attended Manhattan Technical College, studying data processing.

Mary worked for 33 years for McCall Pattern Company in Manhattan. She started folding patterns and then moved into the data entry department. She had also worked for a short time making donuts at the Kansas State Student Union.

Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

She loved the time she could spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was involved in several home refurbishing projects and was known for her love of shopping.

She married Gerald Lee Holley on Feb. 4, 1956, in Wamego. He preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2001.

Mary is also survived by her children, Sharon Holley, Christine Parkhurst (Earl) and Gerald Holley II, all of Wamego; her sister, Sheryl Saville of Wamego; her brother-in-law, Phil Larmore of Manhattan; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Velota Saville, Georgia Larmore, Linda Hecke and Loren Saville.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. The Rev. Mike Peterson will be officiating. Inurnment will follow in Wamego City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. They suggest memorial contributions to the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center, and those may be sent in care of the mortuary. Online condolences may be made at
