Martha Tompkins, 45, died Monday at her home in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was born Aug. 7, 1968, in Dodge City. She was the daughter of George T. Tompkins and Veronica R. Ravenkamp.  She was a 1986 graduate of Dodge City Senior High and a 1988 graduate of Dodge City Community College. 

A Xerox technician for 24 years, she began her work in southwest Kansas moving to Manhattan and eventually settling in Colorado Springs.  She was a staunch supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, especially of the Santa Fe Trail Council, volunteering her time and serving on the Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch staff.  She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Survivors include her step-father, James D. Martin of Dodge City; four brothers, Timothy R. Tompkins and wife, Sharon of Dodge City, William R. Downey of Pretty Prairie, Chad L. Tompkins and wife, Joanna of Abilene, and Lance L. Tompkins and fiancee, Michelle Hertel Fry of Wichita; nieces Amber, Ondrae, Jenny, Ivy and Alyssa; and nephews KC, Ian and Samuel.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.  Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City, with Fr. Ted A. Skalsky presiding.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.  Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City. 

A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 at St. Joseph Parish - Southgate in Colorado Springs, Colo.
