By The Mercury

The Manhattan Marlins swim team will host the annual Little Apple Invitational swim meet this Saturday and Sunday at the City Pool in City Park. Races run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with warm-ups starting at 8:30 a.m. each day.

Admission is free and open to the public, with around 140 swimmers expected from 10 teams from across the state.

This will be the last home swim meet for four top-level Marlin swimmers before they head off to swim in college this fall. Swimming their final meet are Cameron Beauregard (Kalamazoo College), Pilar Dritz (Luther College), Amanda Buckwalter (Oklahoma Baptist) and Alana Bucholtz (University of Nebraska-Kearney).

The highest two levels of swimmers on the team have been training hard, swimming outdoors from 5:30-8:30 each morning, Monday through Friday, with dry-land exercises extending until 9 a.m.
