Manhattan Titans win state

The Manhattan Titans 14-and-under baseball team played in the USSAA AA state championships June 28-30, coming away from Shawnee as the state champions.

The Titans went 2-1 in pool play and then won their first game of bracket play, beating the Bucyrus Landsharks 7-2.

Manhattan defeated the Derby Tigers 12-0, scoring all 12 runs in the fourth inning, and then defeated Capital City Rivals 12-5 in the semifinals.

The Titans defeated the Olathe Blues 7-3 in the finals, with Kade Wallace and Gage Anderson combining to pitch the team to victory.

Manhattan finished its season with a 24-2 record, winning tournament sin Salina, Lawrence and Kansas City.

Members of the team included Anderson, Parker Base, Parker Beer, Dillon Blain, Chase Dillon, Trevor Dillon, Tommy Ekart, Chance Henderson, Jayton Haggard, Justin Reiss, Jake Steinbring and Wallace.

The team was coached by Tommy Dillon, Dave Henderson and Marty Wallace.
