Manhattan Rangers win state

The 10-and-under Manhattan Rangers won the 2012 USSSA Class “A” State Championship over the weekend at the Blue Valley Recreation Complex in Overland Park. 

In pool play, the Rangers defeated the Eagles from Overland Park 20-2 and the Athletics from Overland Park 9-7.

In elimination play, the Rangers beat the Eskridge Vikings 12-9.  And in a rematch the Rangers were able to squeak out another victory over the Athletics, 12-11. 

In the semifinals, the Rangers faced the Ottawa Fury and won 18-7.  And in the State Championship game, the Rangers outslugged the Olathe Mudcats 16-8 and completed their fourth come-from-behind victory to go 6-0 over the weekend.

The Rangers are now 34-11 on the season and will compete in the Sunflower State Games to finish the year off.

Rangers players include Ethan Bohnenblust, Avery Holle, Connor Holle, Jordan Holle, Bryan Holz, Hunter Jones, Skylur Merritt, Adler Pierson, Xander Say, Colton Schrag and Brooks Whaley.  Coaches are Scott Pierson and Aaron Holle.
