A 56-year-old Manhattan man found dead at CiCo Park in an apparent suicide Tuesday has been identified.

Riley County police believe Tom Ellis, 721 Osage St., died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A rifle was found at the scene.

Ellis’ body was found around noon in a picnic area on the west side of the park near Robinson Drive and Avery Avenue.

Police responded to the area after they received a call concerning someone in the park.

Police believe the suicide occurred sometime that same day, prior to their arrival.

Ellis was listed as the owner of Ellis Construction Services Inc.
