Manhattan area youth wrapped up the City Junior Golf series last week, with 10 different champions crowned in five different age divisions.
The series consisted of four consecutive weeks of golf at each of Manhattan’s area courses, culminating in the two-round City Junior Championship last week to decide the series champions. All kids 13 and under have scores reflecting nine-holes of golf.
Winning in the City Championship’s 16-17 boys’ division was Drew Casper with a 149, with Pierson McAtee (155) and Will Grogan (181) in second and third. For the girls, Kyle McCarthy was the winner with a 171, while Kelsey McCarthy (177) and Hannah Devane (195) in second and third.
In the 14-15 division, Mary Francis McNellis shot a 199 to win her age group, while Cole Gritton (164) took first in his, with Dustin Wickman (183) taking second.
In the 12-13 division, Wes Grogan was the boys’ champion, shooting a 91. Nathan McNellis (100) took second, while Josh Bussman (104) took third. For the girls, Macie Myers won her age group with a 94, while Delaney Wisdom (132) took second.
In the 10-11 age group, Kami Bussman shot a 117 to win the girls’ division, while Luke McNellis won the boys’ with a 70. Casey Gritton (81) took second place in the boys’ group, with Stephen McNellis (82), Ben Hulsmeyer (97), Mitch Munson (100) and Collin Devane (103) rounding out the group.
In the 8-9 division, Kyler Hahn won the boys’ group with an 88, while Jack Campbell (100), Rusty Signore (103), Cody Schurle (106), David Norick (112) and Dawson Richardson (117) finished out the top six. There were no girl participants in the 8-9 division.
The results of the City Championship were used in deciding the 2013 champions in the City Junior Golf Series.
Among the 16-17 age group, Will Grogan was the overall boys’ winner with Drew Casper taking second. Kylie McCarthy took top honors in the girls’ division, with Kelsey McCarthy in second and Hannah Devane in third.
In the 14-15 group, Mary Francis McNellis took first in the series, with Mikayla Mummert in second and Emma Devane in third. Among the boys, Cole Gritton took first, Dustin Wickman finished in second and Frank Felber took third.
In the 12-13 range, Nathan McNellis took first among boys, with Westly Grogan taking second and John Bussman in third. Macie Myers won the girls’ group, with Elise Jackson in second and Lydia Fry in third.
Among the 10-11 age division, Jaden Weixelman won the girls’ group, with Kami Bussman in second and Avery Smith in third. Luke McNellis won the boys’ division, with Casey Gritton in second and Stephen McNellis in third.
In the 8-9 age group, Elizabeth Tauscek took first among girls, while Cody Schurle was first for the boys, with Kyler Hahn in second and Rusty Signore in third.
