Michaela Braun has wanted to play college volleyball since her middle school days.
On Tuesday, that dream became a reality.
Braun signed a letter of intent on Tuesday afternoon, committing to play volleyball at Kansas Wesleyan next fall.
The senior said the team dynamics swayed her decision in the end.
“Definitely the team and the coach,” Braun said. “He made me really excited to be there. He’s not the kind of coach who is going to get after you all the time, but he knows how to get on you.”
Braun said her future teammates were extremely receptive when she made her visit to the Salina campus.
“And the team, their setter, she came out to dinner with me when they offered me, and she was fantastic,” Braun said. “The way the team made me feel like a part of it, even though wasn’t — it’s great there.”
Braun said she considered Washburn University, Graceland (Iowa) University and Missouri Southern State in her recruitment. She nearly signed with MSSU, but had a change of heart and opted instead to become a Coyote.
Braun is one of six seniors on this year’s Manhattan High volleyball team, which opened its season in Olathe over the weekend, going 3-2.
