Despite already starting school on Wednesday, athletes at Manhattan High have not begun practicing for fall sports, as regulated by the KSHSAA. The first opportunity to practice is Monday, Aug. 19.
Football upperclassmen (grades 10-12) will start the week with two-a-days Monday through Wednesday, practicing before school from 6:15-7:15 a.m. and after school from 3:15-6 p.m. Freshmen will practice each day only once, from 3:30-6 p.m. All practices will be held on the West Campus practice fields.
Volleyball upperclassmen will practice Monday through Wednesday from 5:30-7:45 p.m., with freshmen practicing from 3:15-5:30 p.m. in the West Campus gyms.
The cross country team will practice Monday and Tuesday at 3:15 p.m., beginning at the West Campus.
The boy’s soccer team will practice at Bishop Stadium Monday through Wednesday, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
The girls’ tennis team will practice at the West Campus tennis courts on Monday from 3:15-5:30 p.m.
The girls’ golf team will have a 3:30 p.m. practice at Stagg Hill Golf Course, with a parent meeting to follow at 6 p.m., also at Stagg Hill.
The cheerleading team will get started on Tuesday in the East Campus auditorium from 3:15-5 p.m.
