Five members of the Manhattan Cross Country Club competed Saturday at the Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

Luke Wichman led the contingent with a seventh-place finish in the 11-year-old division. Wichman’s time was 11:31.9 for 3,000 meters. Harris DeNoble placed 62nd among 11-year-olds, clocking 13:28.4.

Other Club finishers include Sean Anderson (18th among 9-year-olds, 13:02.4); Tyler Higgins (49th in the 10-year-old division, 13:21.9) and Suman Wang (75th among 12-year-olds, 12:43.2).

This year’s meet is the first time the Manhattan CC Club has sent members to the national meet. The national championships wrap up a successful year for the club, which topped 100 members for its six-week Fall recreational season, and had nearly 1,000 area youth participate in September’s Body First School Fitness Challenge.
