Manhattan Braves win tourney

Despite playing up one age group, the Manhattan Braves 9-and-under baseball team won the U10 championship at the NBC Hap Dumont Tournament last weekend in Hays.

The Braves lost all three of their games in pool play, but rallied back in the bracket to claim the title.

In the semifinals, the Braves defeated the top-seeded U10 Hays Cardinals 9-7 behind a complete game from Cade Perkins. Chance Clements then pitched the Braves to victory in the championship game, an 11-9 victory over the U10 McCook Bison.

Team members include Kaden Allen, Alex Boyle, Jack Campbell, Chance Clements, Kyler Hahn, Avery Haus, Cade Perkins, Will Robben, Stuart Scott, Grant Snowden, Carson Walker and Jonathan Wefald.

The Braves are coached by Jim Perkins, Curtis Snowden, Bob Campbell and Kraig Hahn.
