Manhattan boys team wins OKC championship

The Manhattan Elite seventh grade boys traveling basketball team won the Mid America Youth Basketball Tournament in Oklahoma City on Feb. 25-26

The team went undefeated and swept all four games to win the tournament championship outright.

In addition to beating three Oklahoma teams, the Elite defeated another Kansas team, the World Class Sports Academy from Salina, by a score of 56-33 in the championship game.

For the tournament, the team was lead in scoring by Dillon Blain and Parker Base, who both averaged 12 points per game. Ben Veach averaged six rebounds and Tommy Ekart lead the team with three assists per game.

Members of the team include Ekart, Josh Haus, Carter Perkins, Jackson Schroeder, Edward Scott, and James Wilson from Manhattan, Blain and Sean Nordberg from Wamego, and Base and Veach from Abilene.

Terry Ekart is the head coach and assistant coaches are Jim Perkins, Chuck Scott, and Paul Blain.
