Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the theft of several guns from a Manhattan apartment.

Patrol officers arrested Ernest Hamstra, 26, 1613 Fairchild Ave., for burglary to a dwelling, criminal damage to property and obstruction of the legal process, Officer Matthew Droge said, following a tip from a Mercury reader.

It was reported in Monday’s paper that Quentin Waite, 22, 1420 Humboldt St., reported a burglary to his residence on Sunday in which five guns were taken from his bedroom.

Droge said all five guns were recovered, but said ammunition associated with the guns has not been recovered.

Droge said Hamstra was arrested following an interview at the Riley County Police Department at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

He is confined to the Riley County Jail on $10,000.
