Man arrested for theft, drug charges

Officers arrested a Manhattan man for theft and several drug charges Monday after a search warrant was conducted at his house following an investigation into thefts by the Kansas State University Police Department.

Andre Murphy, 33, 618 Yuma St., was arrested after drugs were allegedly found at his residence. KSU police had requested a search warrant on suspicion that Murphy had also been involved with thefts on K-State property.

He was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, unlawful receipt of controlled substance proceeds, criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of felony theft and misdemeanor theft.

Murphy a $17,000 bond for the drug charges and $3,000 bond were set for the theft charges. He is confined to the Riley County Jail.
