Junction City police arrested a Fort Riley soldier Saturday evening following a standoff that lasted more than five hours.

A report from the police department indicated that the standoff began when officers responded to 2614 Deerfield Blvd. at 6:07 p.m. after a report of a domestic disturbance.

Once on scene, police learned that 27-year-old Kevin Guiler was holed up inside the residence, threatening to harm himself with a firearm.

After negotiating with police during a standoff that lasted about five and a half hours, Guiler exited the residence.

Guiler struggled at first, police said, but he was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.

Guiler was transported to the Geary County Detention Center, where he was held without bond for criminal threat, aggravated assault, interference with law enforcement and three counts of misdemeanor battery.

The Geary County Sheriff’s Office, Grandview Plaza Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol and Junction City Fire Department and EMS assisted during the standoff.
