Man arrested after incident at school

By Katherine Wartell

A 24-year-old man was arrested after he violated court orders and attempted to come in contact with a former girlfriend Thursday at the elementary school where she works.

Robert Black, Chapman, was arrested after he drove to Frank Bergman Elementary School, 3430 Lombard Drive, around 8 a.m. to confront his 23-year-old girlfriend, who has a protection from stalking order against Black, Lt. Josh Kyle said.

School officials were notified, Kyle said, and the doors to the school were locked for about 15 minutes before officials were notified that they could be opened.

Kyle said Black allegedly followed his former girlfriend off school grounds and attempted to block her from leaving with his car.

Black was arrested in the 3300 block of Abbey Circle following an investigation into the incident. He was arrested for violation of protection orders, criminal restraint, criminal trespass, felony theft and driving while suspended.

Because of the nature of his alleged violations, Black is being held for 48 hours without bond.
