Man arrested after damaging ER

Riley County officers arrested a Manhattan man Wednesday after they were called to Mercy Regional Health Center for reports of a patient damaging an ER room.

Benjamin Kempthorne, 37, 24 Waterway Place, was arrested after he allegedly damaged a reinforced window and drywall in the emergency room of the hospital while he was there as a patient, Capt. Kurt Moldrup said.

Officers were called at approximately 8 a.m. Moldrup said. Kempthorne was arrested for criminal damage to property. He reportedly caused $11,000 in damage.

Kempthorne is confined to the Riley County Jail on $1,500 bond.
