By The Mercury

A man is in custody following an alleged domestic incident in a housing complex in the northeast part of town Wednesday morning.

Officer Matthew Droge said Riley County officers were called to the victims’ residence at about 7:40 a.m. for reports that Jonathan Ray Watt, 30, 11309 Rimrock Drive, had broken into their residence and stolen several items. The victims, relations of Watt’s, also alleged Watt had driven his vehicle into their own parked cars before forcing his way into their apartment.

Droge said a Ford truck and a Ford Taurus were damaged in the incident, as well as the victims’ front door and doorframe.

While inside the residence, Droge said, Watt allegedly stole various kitchen items from the victims. Watt was arrested for DUI, aggravated burglary, criminal damage to property, driving while suspended and being a habitual violator after an investigation into the matter, Droge said.

The total damage as a result of the incident is estimated at $11,300.

Watt is confined to the Riley County Jail on $11,000 bond.
