Heavy Rain

Madison 47, Ness 43

By Paul Harris

Tyler Williams’ 25 points and nine rebounds were just enough for the Hamilton Bulldogs as they nudged their way past the Ness City Eagles 47-43 and will face the top-ranked and undefeated Meade Buffaloes in the second round of the 2A state tournament today at 4:45 p.m.

No other players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs. Hamilton made a furious comeback late in the fourth quarter as they outscored Hamilton 14-9 in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles had trouble hitting the 3-point shot and finished the afternoon just 1-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Wyatt Beckman led the way for Ness City with 12 points. Dalton Ganz and Colin Foos joined Beckman in double figures. This was the first upset of the 2A state tournament.
