M. Elaine Hitsman, 71, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center.

The family provided some of the following information.

Elaine was born on Feb. 24, 1943 in Randolph, the daughter of David and Emma (Rogers) Stitt.

Elaine attended grade school in Randolph and graduated from Miltonvale High School.  She worked in state offices in Topeka, at the Clay Center S.R.S office, Clay County Treasurer’s office and the Clay County Weed Department.  In 1986 she became an office assistant at Kansas State University, retiring in 2004.  Elaine was a member of the Eagles Lodge. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and five brothers

Survivors include a step-daughter, Tina Strano, of Shawnee, and a brother, Roger Stitt, of Clay Center, and one grandson.

Graveside services will be on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center with Pastor Paul Tessaro officiating.

Memorials can be made to Lighthouse for Christ, care of the funeral home.
