Local teams meet for soccer championship

Two Flint Hills Soccer Club (FHSC) teams met for the title in the 12-and-under division of the Kaw Valley Cup soccer tournament in Lawrence this past weekend.

The FHSC Earthquakes went undefeated in pool play, beating the Topeka Select Sharks 3-0, Topeka Titans 5-2, and FHSC Scorpions 3-0. The FHSC Scorpions went 2-1 in pool play, beating the Topeka Titans 2-1 and the Topeka Sharks 1-0.

The Earthquakes won the championship game, 4-3.

Earthquakes players are Joey Crespino, Trace Dillon, Hunter French, Carson Gros, Dylan Haar, Mitchell Hutchinson, Matthew Long, Aidan Proctor, Josh Priddle, Brett Seaton, Michael Turnley and Luke Wichmann. The team is coached by Bill Turnley and Scott French.

FHSC Scorpions players include Victor Banda, Isaac Castro, Rafael Cuevas, Jack Easton, Mason Garren, Jordan Holstein, Ian Ladiero, Max Lansdowne, William Lind, Gabriel Pereyda, J’Dante Richardson and Noah Sapp. The team is coached by Todd Easton and Aric Sapp.
