Local support central to success of combined Christmas chorus

By Letters to the Editor

On Sunday, Dec. 11, the Little Apple Barbershop Chorus and the Wamego Dutch Mill Chorus presented joint Christmas concerts (“Harmony for the Holidays”) at the new Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center in what was billed as the “start of a tradition in Manhattan.”

This was the inaugural event, so the reception of the public and the success of the event were unknown elements in the planning process. However, several local businesses and individuals stepped up to ensure that this event could be presented as a gift to our great city.

The Little Apple Chorus and the Wamego Dutch Mill Chorus would like to thank the following underwriters for their willingness to support us in this new venture: Community National Bank, Burk Bayer, Burnett Automotive, Coco Bolos, Bayer Construction, The Trust Company of Manhattan, GTM, Dr. Steve and Toni Cross, Manhattan Broadcasting, Patrick Caffey, PA, Little Apple Toyota, Manhattan Surgical Center, Sir Speedy/Hawley Printing Service, Mid-America Piano LLC, Farm Bureau Financial Services (Mikeal Hodges Agency), Kansas Pro Sound and the Manhattan Convention and Visitors Bureau.

This concert was attended by close to 1,000 people who were filled with the Christmas spirit. The Little Apple Chorus and the Wamego Dutch Mill Chorus are happy to announce that because of the support of Manhattan and the surrounding communities and with the help of our local underwriters, the second annual “Harmony for the Holidays” Christmas Concert will be held on Dec.16, 2012. You might want to put this date on your calendar.
