men’s soccer team
Manhattan High alum Ben Turnley is a member of the Central College men’s soccer team this season.
Central compiled a record of 4-13 last season, and will return 16 letterwinners to the 2016 squad. The Dutch are looking to advance to the Iowa Conference tournament for the 14th consecutive year in 2016.
Coach Garry Laidlaw added to his coaching staff this season by adding Will Foskett, assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, and Greg Walter returns to the program as an assistant coach. Zach Jensen will also join the Central men’s soccer staff in 2016 as a volunteer assistant coach.
The revamped coaching staff will lead the Dutch in their season opener on the road against Alma on Sept. 3 at 3:30 p.m.

Softball tryouts
The 10-U Manhattan Optimist Storm will have tryouts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Optimist Park.
