KSU track announces change to home event

By The Mercury

The Kansas State track and field team announced this week that the K-State Winter Invitational, previously named K-State All-Comers, will be a scored event with featured teams Oklahoma State, Emporia State and Fort Hays State.

K-State will participate in a Division-I dual meet against conference foe, Oklahoma State.

The event, held on Dec. 14, will take place a day after the indoor season-opening Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon in Ahearn Field House. It was previously a non-scored open meet which allowed several schools and individual athletes to participate.

Last season’s All-Comers event included several schools ranging from Division-I to NAIA institutions, along with a few unaffiliated individual competitors.

With the changes, the track and field events allow for unlimited entries from the four invited schools, but only two individuals and one relay team per institution will be recorded for scoring.

Along with the Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon and Winter Invitational, the Wildcats will host four other home events at Ahearn Field House during the 2013-14 indoor season.

The Wildcat Invitational and Kansas State High School Invitational will be on Jan. 18 and 19, respectively. K-State then closes out its home slate with the K-State Invitational on Jan. 25 and the K-State Open on Feb. 22.
