KSU to play Tulane in Brooklyn showcase

The Kansas State men’s basketball team will play Tulane as part of a tripleheader at the second annual Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival on Saturday, Dec. 28 at Barclays Center.

The tripleheader will lead off with a game between St. John’s and Columbia, then follow with K-State and Tulane and VCU and Boston College.

Game time and television coverage will be announced at a later date. The Wildcats will play just the single game with the Green Wave.

“This will be a great opportunity to take our East Coast guys home — especially being Shane’s senior year — and play in a world-class arena like the Barclays Center,” K-State head coach Bruce Weber in a release.  “Tulane is a quality opponent, who is coming off a 20-win season and postseason appearance, so it will be another solid test for our team.”

The 2013-14 K-State roster will include four New York/New Jersey area players, including seniors Omari Lawrence (Bronx, N.Y.) and Shane Southwell (Harlem, N.Y.) and incoming freshmen Neville Fincher (Teaneck, N.J.) and Jevon Thomas (Queens, N.Y.).

Last season, the Wildcats played two games at Madison Square Garden in New York City as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off.
