KBI issues warning over marijuana farms

By Katherine Wartell

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the Kansas Marijuana Eradication Program, issued a warning for Kansas citizens to beware of marijuana farms throughout Kansas and to report any suspected activity.

Officials said there are several large “grows” in Kansas, which are generally well-organized and tended by Mexican nationals who camp on site, and in past instances, have been armed.

Officials said that if anyone walks into what they believe is a marijuana grow, they should leave immediately and contact authorities. They said hidden traps might be laid to alert workers to an outsider presence.

Lt. Josh Kyle said the warning is not based upon a specific threat to the Riley County area.
