The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association honored a number of area players this week with all-state selections. The organization also released rosters for its all-star game in August.

Frankfort’s Jacob Broxterman was named first team Class 1A all-state, while Manhattan’s Mari Jo Massanet was named first team Class 6A all-state. Broxterman and Massanet were the Flint Hills Players of the Year. Massanet is signed to play volleyball at Nebraska-Kearney next year.

Riley County’s Kelly Thomson was named first team Class 3A, while the Falcons’ Joel Graver received honorable mention on the boys’ team. Thomson will attend Kansas State next season and join the women’s basketball team.

Wamego sophomore Kaylee Page was named to the Class 4A second team, and Rock Creek’s Lizz Herrs was named to the 3A second team.

Two other players received honorable mention, as Manhattan’s Onyeka Ehie received 6A honors and Riley County’s Rachel Rheaume got a 3A nod.

Thomson and Massanet will faceoff in August in the KBCA All-Star game as Thomson will represent the Blue team and Massanet will play for the White.

The All-Star game will be held Aug. 2, in Topeka at Lee Arena on the campus of Washburn University. The girls’ game will be at 6:00 followed by the boys’ game.
