K-State’s Meyer named TCL Player of the Week

Kansas State outfielder Mitch Meyer was named the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) Player of the Week after beginning the summer on fire for the East Texas Pump Jacks.

Meyer, who will be a junior this next season for the Wildcats, is hitting .419 (13 for 31) with a double, three home runs and 11 RBIs in his first eight games of the summer. He has four multi-hit games, including consecutive three-hit performances against the Woodlands Strykers (June 28) and Texas Marshals (June 30).

In just his second game of the summer, Meyer hit a pair of home runs and recorded a five RBIs in a seven-inning game. His seventh-inning solo homer tied the game 1-1 before a walk-off grand slam the next inning.

In 53 games during the 2013 season, Meyer hit .281 with five doubles, five triples, four home runs and 34 RBIs.
