K-State’s big birthday celebration set to air live

Valentine’s Day 2013 is a day for lovers of Kansas State.The kickoff event for K-State 150th anniversary celebration will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ahearn Field House. There will be displays on university history, music and ice cream from Call Hall.

If you can’t make it there, the program will be shown live at 4 p.m. at k-state.edu/150/ and on K-StateHD.TV at k-state.edu/tv/.

The 4 p.m. program will feature remarks from President Kirk Schulz, Gov. Sam Brownback and past student body presidents, as well as performances by university musical groups.

You can brush up on K-State history before the festivities with the Mercury’s special insert celebrating the 150th anniversary in today’s paper.
