K-State women add commitment

The Kansas State women’s basketball program added a recruit to the 2013 class this last weekend when the Wildcats picked up the verbal commitment from 6-foot-3 forward Erica Young.

A three-star prospect according to ESPN Hoopgurlz, Young averaged 20.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game last season for Tampa Bay (Fla.) Tech. She was a first-team all-county selection as a junior when she helped guide the Titans to a 23-3 record.

According to Hoopgurlz, Young has “good length and above average athleticism for an interior player and can hit the 10-foot face-up jumper.”

With the addition of Young, K-State now has three commitments for the 2013 class, including 5-6 point guard Kindred Wesemann from Pleasant Hills, Mo., and 6-6 center Breanna Lewis from Milwaukee, Wis.

The Wildcats started practice last week and open the season Nov. 1 at home with an exhibition game against Fort Hays State.
