K-State volleyball will face off against the Pac-12’s Arizona in the Green Bay Country Inn & Suites Tournament in late August, Green Bay officials announced. Arizona is the fourth and final team announced for the season-opening tournament.
The Wildcats and Wildcats will both end their run in the tournament hosted by Green Bay in a matchup on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be the first between K-State and Arizona since 1987. Arizona leads the all-time series, 2-0.
Arizona finished 2013 in a tie with California for fifth in the Pac-12 after going 10-10 in the conference and 21-13 overall. The Wildcats advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament following a 3-0 First Round win over New Mexico State.
It will also mark the third straight season K-State has faced a team from the Pac-12 and fourth time in the last five years. The Wildcats are 29-42 all-time against the Pac-12 (formerly Pac-10), including an 18-13 mark under head coach Suzie Fritz. K-State beat No. 25 California, 3-2, in Berkeley in 2013.
K-State also plays Green Bay on Friday, Aug. 29 and South Dakota on Aug. 30 over the course of the two-day tournament. It will be K-State’s first ever trip to Green Bay.
