The 50th-ranked Kansas State tennis team will begin a four-match homestand this weekend, as the Wildcats host No. 15 Texas Tech on Friday and No. 29 Texas on Saturday.
Both matches will be played at 1 p.m. and are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Wamego Recreation Complex in Wamego.
The matches are free and open to the public.
If weather forces the matches to be moved indoors to Body First Tennis and Fitness Center in Manhattan, an announcement will be made through the official K-State Athletic Department Twitter feeds (@kstatesports and @kstate_gameday).
The Wildcats (7-8, 1-4 Big 12) ended a school-record 12-match road trip in the state of Texas, as the Wildcats fell to No. 35 TCU, 5-2, and No. 42 Baylor, 4-3, last weekend.
K-State was paced by senior Karla Bonacic, who extended her singles win streak to five matches, with two wins over ranked foes and secured her 70th career singles win.
Bonacic owns an overall record of 15-7 this season, including an 11-4 mark this spring and a team-leading 4-1 record in the Big 12. Over the last two seasons, Bonacic owns a team-high 11-3 record in Big 12 play.
With her wins last weekend, Bonacic became the fifth player in school history and the second this season (Petra Niedermayerova, 74-31) to surpass the 70-win mark in a career.
Bonacic owns a career singles record of 70-40 (.636) including a 54-18 mark in dual matches.
Following this weekend’s matches, K-State will close out the 2013 regular season with a pair of home matches.
The Wildcats will host Iowa State April 19 at 1 p.m., followed by a visit from West Virginia April 21 at 11 a.m. The matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Wamego Recreation Complex.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) selected K-State as the ITA National Team Sportsmanship Award for the month of April on Wednesday.
