K-State pays tribute to Abilene’s Carly Gassman

By Joel Jellison

The K-State baseball team honored a K-State student who died this weekend and plan to the rest of the season.

Abilene-native Carly Gassman died away on Friday night after a battle with cancer, and the team honored her with the acronym PFCG — pray for Carly Gassman — on their hats, and several players wrote the letters on their wrist tape.

“She’s obviously in our hearts and our prayers, and her family,” Kivett said. “It’s tough. You feel like you lose a family member and this is such a tight-knit community, some of our guys knew her personally and know some of her family members that go to school here.

“The littlest thing that we could is play in memory of her and we’re going to continue to do that the whole year. They’re in our thoughts and prayers and hopefully they can find some peace in this time.
