K-State cracks top 25 poll

By The Mercury

Kansas State, winners of five straight and off to a 10-1 start to the season, were rewarded for its start to the year with a No. 25 ranking in Monday’s ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. With the ranking, the Wildcats are now currently one of five teams in the country to have both their football and men’s basketball program ranked, joining Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State and Baylor.

K-State narrowly missed joining The Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Wildcats received 105 votes in the AP poll, making them the first team outside of the Top 25.

K-State returns to the court on New Year’s Eve at 1 p.m. when it takes on Howard at Bramlage Coliseum. Conference play begins for the Wildcats on Jan. 4 at No. 17 Kansas. K-State will then return home for back-to-back games against No. 8 Missouri and No. 6 Baylor.
