Kansas State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie announced the 2014-15 non-conference schedule for his first season with the Wildcats on Tuesday morning.
The Wildcats’ non-conference slate includes 10 home games, the most since the 2002-03 season, plus a trip to the 2014 Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in late November.
K-State will open the season with a pair of exhibition games on Nov. 3 and Nov. 10. The Wildcats will face Emporia State on Nov. 3 and conclude with a final tune-up against Newman on Nov. 10.
The regular season will begin with a three-game homestand, as K-State hosts first-time opponent Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Nov. 14 to open the season, followed by UMKC on Nov. 18 and Hampton on Nov. 21.
KSU will make the first of two trips away from Bramlage Coliseum Nov. 25-27, as the Wildcats travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for the 2014 Hardwood Tournament of Hope. Games will be played at the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center.
The tournament field includes UTEP, LSU and a final opponent to be determined.
After the three games in Mexico, K-State will return to Manhattan to face Sun Belt Conference member UT-Arlington on Dec. 4. K-State will play its only true non-conference road game on Dec. 12 at Wichita State.
K-State will begin a four-game homestand on Dec. 14 against Oral Roberts. Grambling will then make a return trip to Manhattan on Dec. 20.
Before the holiday break, the Wildcats will host Abilene Christian on Dec. 22.
Following the holiday break, K-State will conclude its non-conference schedule against Samford on Dec. 30.
Under Mittie, K-State will feature a roster of 10 returning letter-winners and four newcomers. The Wildcats will be paced in the 2014-15 season by seniors Ashia Woods and Haley Texada and sophomores Breanna Lewis and Kindred Wesemann. Woods enters her final season with the Wildcats as K-State’s top returning scorer following a career-high effort in 2013-14.
The 2015 Big 12 schedule, game times, promotional and TV schedules will be released at a later date.
