The Manhattan Junior Golf Association opened its summer tournament series Tuesday at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
Boys and girls above age 14 played the back nine and the par-3 course, while the younger competitors played only the par-3 course.
Sisters Kylie and Kelsey McCarthy led the way in the first of four tournaments in Manhattan this summer. Kylie posted a 79, while Kelsey shot an 82 in the 16-17 division. Hannah Devane shot an 88 and Anna Jackson shot a 93.
It was Will Grogan taking the top spot on the boys’ 16-17 side with an 87.
Cole Gritton shot a 69 to lead the 14-15 division, followed by Dustin Wichman with a 74, Trevor Dillon at 90 and Frank Felber with a 91. Cade Roberts was fifth at 110.
Emma Devane shot a 101 in the 14-15 division, followed by Mikayla Mummert, who had a 121.
There was a three-way tie Tuesday in the boys 12-13 division between Wesley Grogan, Nathan McNellis and Tyler Gromlovits, who all posted 35s. Josh Bussman had a 42.
Macie Meyers shot a 35 to lead the girls’ 12-13 side, followed by Lydia Fry at 41, Elise Jackson at 59 and Camryn McAtee with a 62.
Luke McNellis had the top score in the boys’ 10-11 division with a 35 on the par-3 course. Stephen McNellis was second with a 37, followed by Casey Gritton at 38, Collin Devane with a 52 and Zachary Paquette who scored a 56.
Jaiden Weixelman shot a 57 for best score in the girls 10-11 division, followed by Kami Bussman, who had a 59.
The boys 8-9 division was taken by Cody Schurle’s 45, followed by Rusty Signore and Dawson Richardson, who both shot 59s.
The junior series will move to Wildcat Creek this Monday, Stagg Hill Golf Course on July 1 and then conclude at the Manhattan Country Club on July 8.
