John Elmborg, 81, died Wednesday, October 30, at his home in Blue Rapids.

He was born on March 5, 1932, in Lindsborg.

John was a senior pre-law student at Bethany College.

Following law school, John worked on Wall Street and later was in the U.S. Army as an Assistant Judge Advocate and Lawyer. After the army, John practiced law in New York and Denver.

John married Winifred Thoren on Sept. 24, 1971, in Lincoln, Neb. They then made their home in Blue Rapids where John practiced law until his retirement. They were members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waterville where John sang in the choir and also served on the church council.

John was preceded in death by his nephew, Eric Elmborg.

Survivors include his wife, Winifred Elmborg; nieces, Karen Baxter of New Bern, N.C., and Christine Sindoni of Auburn, Calif.; nephew, Stephen Sindoni of Indian Wells, Calif.; and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are to be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waterville. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids.

Viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. John’s family will receive guests between 4 and 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
