Velva Jean Stroble Birk, 83, of Wamego, died Friday.

The family provided some of the following information

Jean was born June 19, 1930, in Elk City. She graduated from Wamego High School in 1948.

Jean is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bill; four children, Timothy D. Birk, Colleen Birk Falk and husband Mel, Daniel W. Birk and wife Debra, Jeffrey P. Birk and wife Laura; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with another on the way. Her parents, Jim Stroble and Mabel Phelps Stroble, and brother, Bobby Stroble, are all deceased.

Jean was employed as a part-time office assistant at Wamego High School and worked in the Kansas State University comptroller’s office for eight years. Jean also owned and operated Birk’s Hallmark Store in Wamego for 14 years.

Jean’s fun and loving spirit will remain with everyone who knew her.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wamego.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wamego or your favorite charity.
