JC police seize $43,000 in pot

JUNCTION CITY — Junction City authorities seized $43,000 worth of marijuana and arrested two people for intending to distribute it after a drug bust on Wednesday.

After executing a search warrants at 1919 Northwind Drive, Lot 2, and 1501 Dean St., authorities arrested Steven J. Parks, 28, Junction City and charged him with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, no Kansas drug tax stamp, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Matthew Redding, 35, of Junction City also was arrested. He was charged with the same crimes as Parks.

Both were confined at the Geary County Detention Center pending their first appearances in Geary County District Court.

In addition to the thousands of dollars in drugs, the Junction City-Geary County Drug Operations Group seized a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban.

The drug operations group was assisted by the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Junction City/Geary County SWAT team and local police officers.
