‘Iron Rangers’ flag to be uncased

The 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment,1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will hold an uncasing ceremony at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bldg. 727 on Fort Riley’s Marshall Army Airfield.

The “Iron Rangers” recently returned from a yearlong deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Throughout the deployment, the battalion completed over ten thousand Village Stability Operation missions in 58 remote locations across Afghanistan.

The uncasing ceremony signifies the battalion’s official return to Fort Riley. The ceremony is open to all friends, Family members and community leaders who wish to formally welcome the Soldiers of 1-16 Inf. home as they re-enter the training cycle and prepare for future missions.
