Injury accident on Wreath Avenue

By The Mercury

A woman was hospitalized for chest pain Tuesday afternoon following a two-car accident at the intersection of Wreath Avenue and Claflin Road.

According to reports, Julia Ward, 67, Manhattan, was driving her white 1993 Chrysler Fifth Avenue westbound on Claflin Road when she failed to stop at Wreath Avenue, striking a black 2011 Nissan Maxima driven by Patrick Schaub, 46, Manhattan.

Lt. Josh Kyle said Schaub had been travelling southbound on Wreath Avenue.

Riley County EMS transported Ward to Mercy Regional Health Center after she reported shortness of breath. Officers cited Ward for failure to stop at a stop sign.  Schaub was not injured.

The accident reportedly occurred at about 12:35 p.m.
