Injury accident on Highway 24

Two people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 24, about 3 miles west of Manhattan, on Wednesday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, the accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. after one of the vehicles failed to see the other and turned in front of it as it was traveling east on the highway.

According to the crash log, the driver of the 2001 Volvo attempting to turn was Brianna Engle, 17, Manhattan. She was hospitalized at Mercy Regional Health Center for a possible injury. Her passenger, Dalton Engle, 13, was not injured.

The vehicle traveling east was a 2010 Dodge Ram driven by Justin Richardson, 17, Manhattan. Records indicate he had a possible injury but was not taken to the hospital. However, his passenger, Joel Force, 34, Manhattan, was transported to Mercy for unspecified injuries.

All involved were reportedly wearing their seatbelts.
